What is the religious ruling on visiting graves on the second day of Eid with the intention of upholding ties of kinship, and am I sinful if I accompany them and sit outside the graveyard?

We do not know of any prohibition against visiting graves on Eid, but dedicating the day of Eid for this purpose is an innovation (bid‘ah), because it is a dedication that has no basis in Islamic law. Visiting graves is permissible at all times for the purpose of taking admonition and supplicating for the deceased.
