The meaning of the prayer of one who drinks alcohol not being accepted for forty mornings is that they will not receive the reward of those who are pleasing to God and honored by Him, not that they will receive no reward whatsoever. The texts of warning regarding forbidden acts clarify the prohibition of the action for which the warning is stated, and it does not necessarily mean that the warning will afflict everyone who commits that forbidden act. This warning does not negate the alcoholic's devotion to God with the hope that He will cure them from the punishment of drinking alcohol, and that God will protect them from it and grant them repentance.
