Is it permissible, in Islamic law, for a man to spend all holidays and occasions with his second wife to the exclusion of his first wife, on the pretext that she provides for him financially?

If a man intends to travel and has more than one wife, he may not take any of them with him except by drawing lots or with the consent of the other wives. This is the view of the Shafi’is and Hanbalis, and the Malikis agree with them regarding journeys undertaken for pious purposes. The evidence for this is the hadith of Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, when he intended to travel, would draw lots among his wives. If one of them is unfit for travel due to illness or an impediment, then no lots are drawn. If the husband cannot afford the travel expenses and another wife covers them, he may travel with her without drawing lots, but on the condition that he compensates the other wife for the duration of the journey, taking into account the nature of the days he was absent when making up for it. The husband must be just among his wives in all matters possible, fearing the inclination that corrupts justice.
