Will a Muslim be held accountable for adopting Western cultural patterns that violate Islamic law? Will media officials be questioned for promoting them? And will preachers confront them?

It is better for a Muslim that his heart be attached to what is praiseworthy in Islamic law, and that he be rewarded for following Islamic guidance in dress and other matters, and not be a follower of the worst of Allah's creation. The basic rule regarding clothing is permissibility, as long as it does not expose the 'awrah (private parts) or involve forbidden imitation. Forbidden imitation is that of what is specific to non-Muslims and is a distinctive emblem for them. Wearing the latest fashions is permissible for those who can afford it, but it is better not to be extravagant. Spending excess money on those in need is preferable to being overly eager in following fashions. It is incumbent upon da'ees (preachers/callers to Islam) to advise one another and to encourage institutions to follow guidance.
