What is the ruling on kissing another person's hand?

It is recommended to kiss the hand of righteous people and scholars due to their asceticism, righteousness, knowledge, and honor. As for kissing the hand of someone who is not so, it is not permissible due to the severe detestability involved, and it may reach the point of prohibition. It is never permissible to kiss the hand of a handsome, beardless youth.
