What is the ruling on someone who applied for a job for which they did not meet the required qualifications, and passed a verbal interview for it, knowing that the job is not technical? And would the income derived from it be unlawful if it stipulated previous experience which they do not possess?

Lying is impermissible, and the deceiver is not one of us. Deceit, treachery, and betrayal lead to Hellfire. Therefore, it is not permissible to lie to an employer to circumvent their conditions. Whoever does so is sinful and bears the burden of their lies and deception, and must repent from it.

As for the salary earned from that work, if the worker performs it as required and the experience certificate had no effect on increasing the salary, then there is no harm in benefiting from it, because the salary was granted to him in return for his effort and work, and this is what matters.

Sheikh Ibn Baz was asked about a man who works with an academic certificate in which he cheated on its exams, and he now excels at this work. What is the ruling on his salary? He replied: There is no harm, God willing. He must repent to God for the cheating that occurred. If he is performing the work as he should, then there is no harm in his earnings, but he erred in the previous cheating, and he must repent to God for that.
