Why doesn't God answer our prayers?

Supplication is a weapon that impacts with the strength of the one wielding it. Therefore, certain etiquettes and conditions must be present in both the supplicant and the supplication for it to be answered. Among the reasons for the answering of supplication are: sincerity, repentance, humility, persistence, supplicating during times of ease, invoking Allah's Beautiful Names, and choosing comprehensive words. Among the non-obligatory etiquettes are: facing the Qibla, purity, praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet, and raising the hands. Supplications are answered at specific times, places, and circumstances. Obstacles to the answering of supplication include: the supplication itself being weak (such as transgressing or being ill-mannered with Allah), the supplicant being weak (such as having a weak heart), engaging in forbidden acts (like illicit wealth), seeking an immediate response, or making the supplication conditional. Allah may answer by granting the desired request, warding off evil, facilitating what is good, or saving it for the Day of Resurrection.
