What is the ruling on playing computer games with broken protection for the purpose of self-entertainment during leisure time, especially in light of the unavailability of other permissible means of entertainment?

If games are free from religious prohibitions and do not distract from obligations, then it is permissible to entertain oneself with them in moderation. However, playing them excessively is a waste of time and compromises one's integrity.

Breaking the protection (cracking) of forbidden games is impermissible. As for permissible games, it is also not allowed to break their protection because intellectual and authorship rights are protected by Islamic law. It is recommended to occupy one's time with beneficial activities, such as reading the Quran, useful books, and the biographies of prophets and righteous people.
