Is it permissible for a 17-year-old to lead congregational prayers in Tarawih, while he is still memorizing the Quran, by reading from the Mus'haf, with older individuals present who put him forward, and with the assistance of two people in leading the prayer?
If the young man referred to is the best reciter among those present, then he has the most right to lead the prayer, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The one who recites the Book of Allah best should lead the people in prayer." However, if he is not the best reciter among them, he should not come forward. But if he does come forward and is suitable to lead, and there is someone among them who is a better reciter than him, then there is no sin upon him. It should be known that leading the prayer (Imamate) is a trust and a responsibility, not a place for training. He must be sincere to Allah and present his recitation to someone proficient.
