Does the Messenger, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him, benefit from our prayers upon him?

Allah has commanded us to pray upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, as an act of worship, whether we understand its benefit or not. Some scholars have perceived benefits from it, such as our prayers being a form of gratitude to him, peace and blessings be upon him, or seeking perfection within the vastness of Allah Almighty's generosity. The more apparent view is that the benefit of sending prayers returns to us, based on what has been narrated: "Whoever sends blessings upon him once, Allah will send blessings upon him ten times." The meaning of sending prayers is that we seek special mercy for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, such as the Waseelah (a station in Paradise), the preservation of the Shari'ah (Islamic law), the increase of his Ummah (nation), and his intercession, and there is no end to the mercy of Allah Almighty.
