Does preventing a child from watching television and cartoon programs lead to psychological problems or feelings of inadequacy compared to other children?

We have previously stated the preponderant view that it is forbidden to design images of animate beings and store them on a computer, with the exception of those specifically for children, which benefit them, and invite them to virtue and Islamic manners, provided they are free from prohibitions such as music and the display of 'awrah. The ruling on owning and watching television in general depends on the content being displayed. If the content is beneficial and free from শরعي (Shari'ah) prohibitions, then there is no harm in watching it.
