What is the ruling on the prayers that a traveler shortened if he later discovered that a resident's prayer is to be performed in full, and must he make up all the prayers that he shortened, the number of which he does not know?

A traveler shortens the four-rak'ah prayers if their journey is permissible, and its distance is not less than 83 kilometers after passing the houses of their village. If you shortened the prayer at a shorter distance, or shortened it after the ruling of travel ceased upon your arrival at your original home, or you intended to stay for four days or more, then you must make up the shortened prayers in full. As for your feeling of shortcoming, it is a praiseworthy matter that encourages repentance. If your departure to attend to personal needs was authorized, then it is not a betrayal. Otherwise, it is a betrayal of trust, and you must repent and give out a portion of your salary corresponding to the time you spent outside of work without permission.
