Would a daughter's request to her mother to stop describing her as not beautiful—due to the negative psychological impact this has on her—be considered disobedience to parents (ʿuqūq)?

If a mother describes her daughter in a hurtful way, gets angry with her, and curses her without cause, then she has done wrong. The daughter has the right to ask her mother to stop, and this is not an act of disobedience (ʿuqūq). The mother should be advised, and the daughter must be patient and pray for her guidance.

If a suitor is religious and of good character, he should be accepted as a husband, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If there comes to you one whose character and religious commitment you approve, then marry him; if you do not do so, there will be tribulation on earth and widespread corruption." Delaying marriage and rejecting suitable suitors may lead to dire consequences.
