Who was the last to look at the Messenger (peace be upon him) in the grave?

The disagreement over who last saw the Prophet, peace be upon him, was between Qutham ibn al-Abbas and al-Mughira ibn Shuba. Al-Mughira claimed that he was the last to see the Prophet when he deliberately threw his ring into the grave to touch him. However, the correct and more reliable opinion is that Qutham ibn al-Abbas was the last to see the Prophet, peace be upon him, and this was confirmed by Ali ibn Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, when he refuted al-Mughira's claim, which is the view held by the scholars.
