Is what is said true, that the Prophet David (peace be upon him) committed adultery with the wife of one of his companions?

What is attributed to the Prophet of God, David, peace be upon him, regarding adultery, is false and reprehensible, and its proponent deserves death. These accusations originate from the People of the Book, who distorted their scriptures and accuse the prophets of committing reprehensible acts. The people of Islam believe in the infallibility of the prophets from major and minor sins that involve vice. As for the story of David's adultery mentioned in the Old Testament, it is one of the fabricated Isra’iliyyat (tales of Jewish origin) that seeped into some books of exegesis without verification. Scholars like Ibn Hazm, Ibn Kathir, and Al-Shanqeeti have affirmed that this story has no basis in Islam and that the prophets are infallible and far removed from such actions.
