What is to be said about someone who claims that the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, fled from Mecca and hid in the Cave of Thawr out of fear, and that Moses, upon him be peace, fled from Pharaoh's tyranny out of fear, even though the Hijrah was a divine command, and the verse indicates the Messenger's presence in the cave as a miracle, and Moses' departure was by Allah's command?

The Prophet's migration (peace and blessings be upon him) was by divine command, yet this does not contradict the fact that he was forced out of Mecca by the polytheists who plotted to kill him or expel him. There is no deficiency in the status of prophethood in this, for instinctive fear is natural and a trial from Allah, and the prophets are the most severely tested of people. The verse (إِذْ أَخْرَجَهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا) "When those who disbelieved expelled him" indicates that the polytheists were the ones who expelled him, which permits fleeing with one's religion and going into hiding. The fear of the prophets (like Moses, peace be upon him) does not diminish their stature; rather, it indicates the completeness of their faith, for they did not abandon Allah's command despite their fear.
