Watching anime is permissible in principle, as long as it is free from শরীয়া (Islamic law) prohibitions, such as disbelief-inducing beliefs, destructive ideas, naked scenes, and music. Music is prohibited by the majority of scholars, so it is not permissible to listen to it.

Reading and translating comics (manga) and novels are forbidden if they contain শরীয়া (Islamic law) prohibitions or incite corruption. It is necessary to avoid anything of this nature. There is ample room for stories free from prohibitions. If they contain minor and incidental শরীয়া (Islamic law) objections, and these are not fundamental to the story, then there is no objection to reading and translating them while removing those objections.
