Is what the questioner does—embracing and kissing her lover on the nights of Ramadan—forbidden, and what is the punishment for that, given her knowledge that intercourse is permissible on the nights of Ramadan?

Taking mistresses or lovers is among the major sins. Intercourse and intimacy are not permissible except for spouses or for a husband and his bondwoman. Shaking hands, private seclusion (khalwa), embracing, kissing, and physical intimacy are forbidden. All of these are considered the minor zina (fornication) of the limbs, and they are prohibited outside of Ramadan. Their prohibition becomes even more severe in Ramadan out of reverence for the month. Both the lover and you must repent to Allah. Marriage between you becomes permissible after repentance, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is nothing like marriage for two who love one another."
