What is the authenticity of the the "Siddiqiyyah Prayer" (Salat al-Siddiqiyyah), and is there a form of prayer upon the Prophet by this name?
The Siddiqi prayer has no confirmed attribution to Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, nor is its superiority established. Those who promote it rely on dreams. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, taught his companions how to send blessings upon him, and that is the best way, because he would not choose for himself anything but the most honorable and superior. It was narrated from Ka'b bin 'Ujrah that he said: "Indeed, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came out to us, and we said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we know how to greet you (say 'As-salamu alaykum'), but how shall we send blessings upon you?' He said, 'Say: «O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent prayers upon the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed the family of Ibrahim. Verily, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.»'" Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim. It is indeed a deprivation for a Muslim to turn away from the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and follow dreams and strange sayings.
