What is the ruling on working for a company affiliated with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation that reads and collects gas bills, gathers and processes oils, and markets goods and services through advertisements on bills, knowing that it is unknown whether it deals with banks or not? And if it deposits its money in banks, is working for it forbidden? And is working in administrative tasks better than accounting within it? And is working in an Islamic bank better than working for it?

Determining the preference between administrative or accounting work depends on how far each is from the unlawful. Working in an Islamic bank committed to Sharia is definitely better than working for a company where there is doubt about the lawfulness of some of its funds, in compliance with the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt."
