Is it obligatory to perform ghusl and pray after the seventh day of menstruation, or is it obligatory to wait for the discharge of the white secretion, knowing that it may be delayed beyond seven days, and sometimes colored discharges, considered as istihadah (post-menstrual bleeding), may appear after it?

If a woman's customary sign of purity is dryness alone, she should suffice with it and not wait for the white discharge. If her customary sign of purity is the white discharge, she should not wait for dryness.

If her customary sign of purity is the white discharge, but she observes dryness, it is recommended for her to wait for the white discharge until the end of the prayer time. If she does not see it, she should pray.

The dryness considered a sign of purity is when the cloth placed in the private part comes out uncolored by blood. There is no difference whether the blood is a brownish discharge (kudra) or a yellowish discharge (sufra).

Any yellowish or brownish discharge, or colored secretions that appear after seeing the white discharge, are not considered menstruation. This is based on the saying of Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her): "We did not consider the brownish and yellowish discharges after purity to be anything."

If dryness occurs on the seventh day, it is recommended to wait for the white discharge until the end of the prayer time. If she does not see it, she should pray.
