What is the ruling on touching a dog's cells and its DNA for study purposes?
It is permissible to conduct research and experiments on dogs, even if it necessitates touching them, provided that whatever the dog touches is washed seven times, one of which is with earth, due to the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "The purification of the vessel of one of you, when a dog licks in it, is to wash it seven times, the first of them with earth."
This ruling applies to all parts of the dog and its bodily fluids. This is the view of the Shafi'i and Hanbali schools of thought.
