Wearing or putting on a ring with the intention of seeking influence or protection from evil is polytheism (), whether for men or women, based on the : "Whoever hangs (an amulet) has committed shirk" and "Whoever hangs something is entrusted to it," and the hadith of Imran ibn Husayn concerning the prohibition of wearing the ring of al-Wahina. Students of knowledge must educate people about the danger of shirk and the necessity of adhering to Allah and relying upon Him.
