What is the fatwa regarding a man divorcing his wife—after discovering she was not a virgin on their wedding night—a divorce he uttered intending to uncover the truth, and can he take her back after she revealed to him that she had been raped?

One should not yield to obsessive doubts by asking about the defloration of virginity, especially given the knowledge that there are multiple reasons for its loss. The loss of virginity does not imply corruption; it may be due to causes other than sexual intercourse. The wife is not obligated to inform you of the reason for the loss of virginity. If you conditioned her divorce on her not being a virgin before your intercourse with her, and that occurred, then the divorce takes place because it is a condition placed on an accomplished matter. If this was not the third divorce, then it is permissible to reconcile with her during her iddah (waiting period) without a new contract, and after the iddah with a new contract and the consent of her guardian and witnesses.
