Why is it impermissible to resort to intellect in matters of doctrine, and how can a non-Muslim be invited to Islam when they are ignorant of Allah the Almighty, His Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and His Book, the Holy Quran?

The intellect cannot grasp the details of beliefs because they pertain to the Unseen, and its role is limited to accepting and understanding revelation. However, the intellect can be guided to fundamental principles such as the Oneness of God and the perfection of His attributes. The Qur’an addresses all people, awakens their intellects, and solicits their affirmation. It is the best means to invite a disbeliever to Islam. The Qur’an brought the leaders of this nation out of the darkness of ignorance into the light of faith, in affirmation of His, the Almighty’s, saying: "There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book by which Allah guides those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace and brings them out from darknesses into the light, by His permission, and guides them to a straight path" (Qur’an 5:15-16), and His saying: "Alif, Lam, Ra. A Book which We have sent down to you that you may bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord – to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy" (Qur’an 14:1).
