Should religion be apprehended by intellect or not, and why is this denied and used as needed?

A sound mind can never contradict the Sacred Law. Indeed, the mind apprehends the Sacred Law just as the eye perceives the sun. Religion is to be taken from the Sacred Law, not from the mind. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah affirmed that a sound transmitted text is never contradicted by a clear rational argument. Sayyid Qutb believed that the mind, without revelation, is blind, and thus reflection is required, but within the bounds of revelation. Islam has given immense importance to the intellect and made it the basis of accountability, but it has its own domains and limits. Its role with the Sacred Law is to submit, even if it does not grasp the wisdom behind it. The human mind is a tool for knowledge, but it is an individual or collective mind that is affected by influences. Therefore, a constant scale (revelation) is essential to evaluate the judgments of minds.
