What is meant by glorifying Allah Almighty and praising Him before supplicating?

The supplicant begins their supplication by praising and thanking Allah, then sends blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. This is based on the hadith of Fadalah ibn Ubayd: "When one of you supplicates, let him begin by praising his Lord and extolling Him, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then let him supplicate thereafter with whatever he wishes." An example of extolling is: "O Allah, I ask You, for all praise is due to You, there is no god but You alone, You have no partner, the Giver of bounties, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, full of Majesty and Honor." Then, one sends blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with the Ibrahimiyyah prayer or other forms, and then supplicates.
