Is it permissible to consume products that contain vinegar made from alcohol in Europe, after it has become clear that all types of vinegar produced there originate from alcohol, and that factories produce alcohol then convert it into vinegar?

If wine turns into vinegar on its own, without any intervention, its use is permissible according to the majority of scholars, based on the narration that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ate vinegar and praised it. However, if wine is processed to become vinegar, such processing is considered unlawful by the Shafi'is and Hanbalis. In contrast, the Hanafis and Malikis deem the process of converting wine to vinegar permissible, and the resulting vinegar is lawful to drink and eat. Scholars have differed on whether processed wine becomes pure and its resulting vinegar becomes lawful. Some hold the view that it becomes pure and lawful because the cause of impurity has been removed, while others hold that it becomes lawful if the conversion is done by someone who believes in the permissibility of wine, such as the People of the Book.
