Is it permissible to consume alcohol or mix it with other substances if it has been artificially fermented and the alcohol content remains below 3%, and in the era of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did vinegar transform until it became free of alcohol?

The jurists have agreed on the purity of wine if it spontaneously transforms into vinegar. However, the more authoritative view is that it does not become pure if it is intentionally transformed, and it is not permissible to use it, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition of that in multiple hadiths, among them his saying "No" when asked about wine that is made into vinegar, and his command to spill it.

Scholars have rejected the hadiths that permit this due to the weakness of their chains of transmission and their contradiction of the sound and explicit hadiths. What has been narrated from some Companions regarding this matter is interpreted as referring to wine that transformed into vinegar by itself, not through human action.

Wine remains impure and forbidden if it contains even a small percentage of alcohol.
