The question

What is the optimal course of action for a wife upon discovering an audio recording that confirms her husband's infidelity for the second time, given her prior knowledge of his recurring indiscretions? Is what happened considered Zina (adultery) that necessitates a ruling from her family or his family, or should she continue to stay with him for the sake of the children and their shared life, and is divorce the solution to deter him?

The answer

If a husband looks at women, watches forbidden things, and befriends girls online, he has committed evil deeds. It is advisable to be patient and supplicate for his repentance and guidance, and to gently advise him, reminding him that sins can bring calamities, for Allah Almighty says: "And whatever calamity befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned, and He pardons much." One must be careful not to accuse him based on mere suspicions or to spy on him, as dialogue between spouses is the best way to resolve the issue. Seeking family intervention should only be when absolutely necessary. The default is that it is not permissible to seek divorce, but it is permissible if the wife is harmed by remaining with him. If it is proven that he commits indecency and does not repent, then separation from him is preferable. And the wife's maintenance is obligatory upon her husband even if she is wealthy, and her helping him with her money willingly is a good deed.
