Is it permissible for a Western family that has embraced Islam to breastfeed a child they adopted—despite the prohibition of adoption in Islam—so that the child becomes a mahram to them, by analogy with the incident of Umm Salamah breastfeeding the adult?

Establishing the Mahramiyyah (prohibition of marriage) through the suckling of an adult is a matter of dispute among jurists. The majority opinion is that Mahramiyyah is not established by it. However, some jurists, including Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, held that Mahramiyyah is established by it when there is a need.
