How can a young person who desires righteousness in religion practically see and apply righteousness in reality and life, not merely read about it in books or about those who came before?

Emulating the Prophets and the righteous is a divine command, and it is possible for every Muslim. Falling short of their standard is inevitable, but if you are on their path, you will eventually join them. Therefore, emulate them and study their biographies. In the lives of contemporary people of knowledge and righteousness, there is a good example to follow. Righteous people exist in every era. We advise you to associate with good people who follow the Sunnah and apply the teachings of religion, for a person is upon the religion of his intimate friend; so let each of you choose whom he befriends. Strive in supplication so that Allah may make it easy for you to associate with good people who will help you in obeying Allah and remind you, and that He may grant you success in emulating the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and the righteous among His servants.
