Is it permissible for a brother to give his Zakat money to his needy sister to buy a house, knowing that she and her husband work but do not own a private residence, and is Zakat due on the principal of the deposit or its profits after the passing of a year?

A married sister may be given zakat if she and her husband are poor. She is obligated to pay zakat on the money received if a year has passed over it and it has reached the nisab, as well as on its profit if it is in a permissible deposit. However, if she is self-sufficient with her salary or her husband's maintenance, then it is not permissible for her to take zakat, and she must return it. The fact that the housing is rented does not mean poverty that permits taking zakat.
