The wife's departure from her husband's home without his permission, when there is no necessity, is considered an act of disobedience and insubordination (nushooz), which forfeits her right to maintenance (nafaqa). However, if she is pregnant, there is a difference of opinion regarding the obligation of her maintenance. If your maintenance is obligatory and your husband refuses to spend, then it is permissible for you to go out to work.

The husband is not obligated to come to the wife's family home to bring her back after her insubordination, but it is recommended to do so to mend relations.

It is advised to return to the husband and live with him amicably. Otherwise, two arbitrators should be appointed to reconcile the spouses or to facilitate divorce if reconciliation is not possible.
