How many nations did Allah Almighty create, and what are their types and their perishing?

The number of nations created by Allah is unknown, and they are very numerous. Among them are nations mentioned in the Quran, such as 'Ad and Thamud, and nations not mentioned. There are also non-human nations, such as insects, birds, and animals, as affirmed by His saying, the Almighty: (And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you).
