What should the questioner do about the judge's request for her to meet him personally in a case of squandering marital assets that she filed against her ex-husband, based on her lawyer's advice, knowing that she was not harmed by the squandering of the assets and refuses to swear a false oath, and at the same time fears a counterclaim of false accusation if she does not appear before the judge?

Swearing by Allah falsely is one of the gravest forbidden acts; it is the "oath of immersion" (al-yamin al-ghamūs) that immerses its taker in sin, especially if it involves the rights of others. Therefore, a Muslim woman must fear Allah and observe His right by staying away from all forbidden acts, and she must be certain that whoever fears Allah, He will ease their affairs and rectify their condition. She should also respect the right of the previous companionship with her ex-husband and the right of their daughters, and she should strive to resolve problems between them amicably, in preservation of their reputation and the reputation of their daughters, by involving people of goodness to mediate between them and convince the husband to agree to withdraw the lawsuits and fulfill his obligation of paying the due alimony for his children. One must be wary of being swayed by the lawyer's suggestions and filing false lawsuits, for a lawyer may be strong in contention, but that holds no value with Allah. She must also maintain her prayers, supplications (adhkār), traditional recitations for protection, and seek refuge in Allah from injustice and the evil of every evil-doer.
