A woman is not permitted to seek a divorce without a valid reason. If she seeks a divorce without a valid reason and levels false accusations against her husband, she is an oppressor. However, if she seeks it for a legitimate reason, there is no blame upon her. Matters involving disputes are referred to the Sharia (definition) court, as it is the competent authority that determines the means of proving harm and what rights are established or forfeited upon divorce. Therefore, we advise the husband not to rush as long as the matter is presented before the judge.
