"In light of the widespread wrongdoings seen in mosques and society, is it better to isolate myself from people, or continue enjoining good and forbidding evil? And if I do continue, should I advise every wrongdoer I see, or is it enough to speak to just one person per day?"

"Enjoining good and forbidding evil is a communal obligation (fard kifaayah), and the Muslim is required to fulfill it according to his ability. The lowest degree of it is to denounce it in the heart by hating the evil and leaving its place. The Muslim must fulfill this duty with gentleness, kindness, and good exhortation, mixing with people and being patient with their harm, and seeking help from those who assist him in calling to Allah, enjoining good, and forbidding evil. Describing the denouncing of evil as a waste of time is a mistake for which repentance is obligatory.
