Is it permissible to buy roasted meat that is sold by approximation or by estimating the bone (such as the shoulder, hip, or liver) without precise weighing?

If the sale of meat is known by inspection, such that ignorance and gharar (excessive uncertainty) are eliminated, then there is no objection to it. Some scholars have explicitly stated the permissibility of selling meat and similar food items if their quantity is known without weighing or estimation, whether it is roasted or cooked. They cite the words of Ibn al-Hajj al-Qallawi al-Maliki in Jami' al-Nawazil: "And the sale of something like meat without weighing or estimation is permissible if it is customary."
