The answer

One who has suffered harm to their person or property due to an accidental or deliberate offense has the right to demand compensation and rectification of the harm. This right is legally recognized as the blood money (diyah) for a life or limbs. However, if the injured party waives their right and forgives the offender, they will be rewarded, as Allah Almighty says: "So whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is due from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers." (Quran 42:40). But if they do not forgive and take the blood money, they will not be rewarded from this aspect. They may, however, be rewarded for the calamity if they endure it with patience and seek reward from Allah. For compensation regarding accidents and treatment costs, please refer to fatwas numbered: 85246, 84602, 84945.
