What is the extent of sin for a 31-year-old unmarried young man who succumbs to the internet, browsing indecent websites and chatting with girls on Messenger, which unintentionally leads to ejaculation due to stress and fear? And how can he stop these actions and atone for these sins, especially since he feels he is among those of whom the Quran says: "Wavering between that, [belonging] neither to these nor to those. And he whom Allah sends astray - never will you find for him a way"?

Fear and constant awareness of Allah protect a servant from error and admit him into Paradise. One must be wary of those who commit sins in private. Lowering the gaze from forbidden things has three benefits: the sweetness of faith, light in the heart and insight, and strength, steadfastness, and courage of the heart. The problem is not in committing a sin but in persisting in it. The servant must repent and follow a bad deed with a good one to erase it. Repeated sins without repentance blacken the heart. Warnings have previously been issued regarding explicit films and images and conversations between genders on the internet. The emission of semen without pleasure does not necessitate ghusl (ritual bath) except according to the Shafi'i school and invalidates wudu' (ablution). However, if it is with desire, it necessitates ghusl, unless it is involuntary discharge.
