Is it permissible to borrow money from a Christian friend and return the amount with a profit determined by the borrower?
It is not permissible for a Muslim to befriend or show loyalty to a Christian, due to the Almighty's saying: (You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and His Messenger), and His saying: (O you who have believed, do not take the disbelievers as allies instead of the believers). However, it is permissible to deal with them through buying and selling, lending and mortgaging, and it is permissible to borrow from them without usurious interest. It is also permissible to partner with them in trade for a known percentage of the profit (Mudarabah), and in case of loss, it is distributed among the partners according to the percentage of each partner's capital.
