Is it obligatory to make up for (the days) or to feed (the poor) for the month that was not fasted due to chronic illness?
There are two situations for a sick person who is permitted to break their fast in Ramadan:
1. If there is hope for their recovery: They must make up the fast whenever they are able, and feeding the poor is not sufficient.
2. If there is no hope for their recovery: They must feed a poor person for each day.
If a sick person for whom there is no hope of recovery feeds the poor, and then later becomes able to make up the fast, they are not obligated to make it up.
So, if you fed the poor because you had no hope of recovery, then making up the fast is waived for you and feeding the poor is sufficient. However, if you fed the poor while you had hope of recovery, then making up the fast is still obligatory for you.
As for the month for which you neither fed the poor nor made up the fast, making it up is obligatory for you if you are able. If you cannot make up the fast except with difficulty, and fasting is hard for you according to doctors' testimonies, and there is no hope of recovery, then you are permitted to switch from making up the fast to feeding the poor.
