Is washing clothes on Friday forbidden or an innovation (Bid'ah)?

The Lawgiver has emphatically commanded ghusl (ritual bath) on Friday, so that Muslims may be in the best state of cleanliness and purity when they gather. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Ghusl on Friday is obligatory upon every pubescent person." The intended meaning of "obligatory" here is to emphasize its desirability (mustahabb). A Hadith, graded as hasan (good) by Sheikh Al-Albani, has been narrated regarding the virtue of performing ghusl, going early, walking, and listening attentively on Friday. Clean clothes are also required, as Allah Almighty says: "O Children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid." Based on the foregoing, washing clothes on Friday is neither forbidden nor an innovation.
