Is it legislated to perform ghusl on Friday to attain the reward mentioned in the hadith: "Whoever washes and performs ghusl, and comes early and is present early... he will have the reward of a year's worth of Qiyam and Sawm (standing in prayer and fasting)," despite the closure of mosques and not going to them for prayer, and is intention sufficient to obtain the reward in this case?

The Friday ghusl (ritual bath) is prescribed for those who go to the Friday prayer in the mosque, not merely because it is Friday. As stated in the hadith: "If any of you wishes to come to Friday prayer, let him perform ghusl." Accordingly, whoever does not attend Friday prayer due to an excuse, such as a traveler or a sick person, is not obligated to perform ghusl; however, some jurists consider it recommendable.

If you do not go to the mosque on Friday, you are not obligated to perform ghusl, and there is no harm if you perform it as a recommended act. It is hoped that you will be rewarded for the ghusl and all other acts of obedience that you used to perform, if you are prevented from attending Friday prayer due to an excuse, for "If a servant falls ill or travels, what he used to do when he was healthy and resident will be recorded for him."
