What is the ruling on earning a livelihood, working, and residing in a city predominantly engaged in the production and trade of alcoholic beverages, and enrolling in a scientific institute specialized in fruit cultivation, while it belongs to a group of institutes, one of which is concerned with research and manufacturing of alcoholic beverages? And is it permissible to accept this job with the intention of leaving it and joining another when another opportunity becomes available?

A woman's travel without a mahram for study in non-Muslim lands is not permissible unless certain conditions and regulations are met: there should be no khalwa (private seclusion) or mixing with men, no fear of fitna (temptation/strife), the ability to openly practice religious rituals like wearing the hijab, that such study is not available in Muslim lands, and that the field of study is appropriate for women.

As for studying in an institute that has no connection to alcoholic beverages, it is permissible, even if it belongs to a complex that includes institutes specializing in them, and the earnings from it are lawful.

Regarding staying in a city known for alcohol, it is strongly disliked (makruh tahrimi), but it is not forbidden as long as one is safe from harm and able to display the rituals of their religion, and avoids evil.
