Is it permissible for one to donate a Mus'haf (copy of the Quran) as an ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) for himself and for deceased Muslims, so that the reward (Ajar) and recompense (Thawab) for it accrue to him and to them whenever it is read?

Donating a copy of the Quran as an ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) is permissible according to many scholars, including the four Imams. This act benefits the deceased. For the endowment of a Quran to be valid, it must be removed from the possession of the endower and placed in a mosque or similar location, thus becoming an endowed asset. It is not permissible for the endower to keep the endowed Quran for personal reading; rather, the endower becomes like anyone else who reads from it.
