What is the divorced mother's share of her single daughter's inheritance?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A mother inherits from her daughter unless there is a preventing factor such as (murder, slavery, difference in religion). Her share is as follows: one-third if the daughter has no lineal descendant, or two or more siblings; and one-sixth if the daughter has two or more siblings, based on the words of Allah the Almighty: "But if he has no child and his parents inherit from him, then for his mother is one-third. But if he has siblings, then for his mother is one-sixth." The mother may also take one-third of the remainder in one of the two 'Umarite cases.
