What is the ruling on one who has sworn by divorce more than five times in a state of anger over trivial matters?

An angry person is accountable, and their words and actions have consequences, unless their anger reaches a point of being overwhelming, where they are unaware of their actions. Swearing by divorce falls under the ruling of a conditional divorce. Thus, divorce occurs upon the fulfillment of the condition sworn upon, according to the majority of scholars, even if the husband did not intend divorce. However, Ibn Taymiyyah held the view that an expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin) is required if divorce was not intended. Swearing by divorce is blameworthy, especially when done excessively.
