What is the wisdom behind the successive calamities I have been facing since my marriage, such as losing my job and money, car problems, and finding a scorpion in my house?
If calamities befall a person, or they feel a lack of success, they should review themselves and their relationship with Allah. Calamities do not descend except due to a sin, and they are not removed except through repentance, as Allah the Almighty said: "And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is because of what your [own] hands have earned, and He pardons much."
Therefore, one should renew their repentance, maintain the obligatory prayers, and avoid apparent and hidden sins, for indeed Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And whoever adheres to piety will find ease in their affairs, as Allah the Almighty said: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him ease in his affair."
It is recommended to constantly engage in the remembrance of Allah the Almighty, especially the morning and evening remembrances, those before sleep, and upon entering the lavatory, and to frequently recite the Qur'an. It must be noted that it is not permissible to reside in lands of disbelief except in specific cases with legitimate Islamic guidelines.
